Disassemble Rocker Shaft Assemblies
Start By:a. remove rocker shaft assemblies and push rods 1. Slide shaft assembly (1) out of rocker arms (3) and spacer (2). If necessary, remove dowel (4) from shaft assembly (1). 2. Remove adjustment screw (5) and the nut from rocker arm (3).3. Use a hammer and punch to push socket (6) out of rocker arm (3). 4. Remove the ring that holds button (7) in socket (6). Remove the button from the socket. 5. Use tool group (A) to remove bearing (8) from rocker arm (3).6. Do Steps 2 through 5 for the other rocker arm.Assemble Rocker Shaft Assemblies
1. Align the hole (slot) in bearing (8) with the oil passage in rocker arm (3). Using tool group (A), install the bearing in rocker arm (3) with the joint in the bearing toward the top of the rocker arm. The bore in the bearing must be 37.140 0.015 mm (1.4622 .0006 in) after assembly. 2. Align the scribe mark on socket (6) with the mark on rocker arm (3), and install the socket in the rocker arm.3. Install button (7) in socket (6). Install ring (9). 4. Install adjustment screw (5) and the nut on rocker arm (3).5. Do Step 1 through 4 for the other rocker arm. 6. If dowel (4) was removed from shaft assembly (1) install the new dowel in the shaft until it is 6.00 mm (.236 in) above the surface of the shaft.7. Put clean engine oil on the rocker arm bearing and shaft assembly (1). Install rocker arms (3) and spacer (2) on shaft assembly (1).End By:a. install rocker arm shaft assemblies and push rods
