Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Turn the fuel supply to the "OFF" position and turn the power disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Disconnect tube assemblies (1) and (2) .
Remove bolts (4) .
Remove fuel transfer pump (3) and remove the O-ring seal (not shown).

Remove nut (5). Remove bolts (7) and remove pump drive (6) .

Remove bolts (10) and retainers (11) that secure adapter (14) to bearing (12) .
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (13) .
Use Tooling (C) and a suitable press to remove assembled bearing (12) and gear (9) from adapter (14) .
Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove bearing (8) from gear (9) .
Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove bearing (12) from gear (9) .Installation Procedure
Install fuel transfer pump (3) in reverse order of removal.

Raise the temperature of bearing (8) and install the bearing onto gear (9) .
Raise the temperature of bearing (12) and install the bearing onto gear (9) .
Use Tooling (C) and a suitable press in order to install assembled bearing (8), bearing (12), and gear (9) into adapter (14) .
Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel System - Prime".
