Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant (NGEC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove exhaust shield assembly (1).

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and tube assembly (3).

Disconnect hose assemblies (4).

Remove nuts (5) and disconnect elbow (6). Remove bolts (7).

Remove bolts (8) and clamp (9).

Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (11). The weight of turbocharger (11) is approximately 370 kg (815 lb).
Remove bolts (10) and turbocharger (11). Installation Procedure
Install turbocharger (11) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 960 48 N m (710 35 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (8).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (7).
