(1) Vibratory pumpVibratory pump (1) is located under the operator platform on the right side of the machine. A side panel must be removed to gain limited access to the pump.Vibratory pump (1) is an axial piston pump with variable displacement. The vibratory pump is the second in a series of two pumps that are driven by the engine flywheel. The propel pump is driven by the engine. The vibratory pump is splined to the propel pump.Vibratory pump (1) is controlled by two solenoids. On machines with a fixed frequency vibratory system, the pump control solenoids are on/off solenoids. On machines with a variable frequency vibratory system, the pump control solenoids are proportional solenoids.The control solenoids and the inclusion of frequency adjustment screws are the only differences between the hydraulic pumps used on the two different vibratory systems. Only the fixed frequency pump has frequency adjustment screws (stroke limiters). The machine ECM controls the vibratory pump solenoids on the variable frequency vibratory systems.The frequency adjustment screw for high amplitude limits the maximum position of the swashplate when the amplitude status is set to high-amplitude . The position of the swashplate controls pump output. In this case, pump output controls the vibratory frequency.The frequency adjustment screw for low amplitude limits the maximum position of the swashplate when the amplitude status is set to low-amplitude.

(8) Port plateEngine rotation turns pump input shaft (3). This action rotates barrel assembly (7). Pistons (6) rotate with the barrel assembly. Slipper pads (5) allow the pistons to follow angle of swashplate (4). The pump only generates flow when the swashplate is not at minimum angle.When the vibratory system is not operating, both sides of servo piston (2) are open to the case drain. The servo piston springs center the servo piston, and swashplate (4) remains at minimum angle. With the swashplate at minimum angle, pistons (6) do not move in and out of barrel assembly (7) as the assembly rotates. Therefore, the pump does not generate flow.
