This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI10789" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty ClaimDescription Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI10789" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
PROBLEM
Loose part kits required for Marine Classification Societies (MCS) need to be inspected on certain 3508B, 3512B, 3512C, 3516B, 3516C, 3616, C280-12, and C280-16 Marine engines. The existing packaging may not meet the MCS requirements for storage on-vessel. Failure to comply with the MCS requirements may void the certification of the engine. Failure of the packaging may result in personal injury or death.

Crates are to be ordered as required based on inspection results. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect the loose parts kits for correct packaging in wooden crates. Contact Caterpillar for correct wooden crates and repackage parts if not packaged in wooden crate.
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure for details.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
U.S. and Canadian owners will receive the attached Owner Notification.

This is a 1.5-hour job
The inspection is a 0.5 hour job. If a rework of the packaging is required, an additional 1.0 hour will be allowed per kit that requires repackaging in a wooden crate.

This may void the Marine Classification Society certification, and may result in personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 06Jan2010 when scheduling this service.
