ACTIVE ERROR
LOGGED ERROR
LOGGED EVENT

Press the up key (8) or down key (13) to scroll through the active errors.The "LOGGED ERROR" menu displays logged errors in the MID: CID - FMI format. Press the up key (8) or down key (13) to highlight the desired item. Press the "OK" key (15) to see the detail of the logged error. The detail of a logged error will display the following items:MID - Control module ID of the ECM that detected the error.CID - Component ID that is in error status.FMI - Failure mode IDOCC - The number of times the error occurred.FIRST - The first time the error occurred.LAST - The last time the error occurred.
Illustration 4 g02406258When the detailed view of the "LOGGED ERROR" view is displayed as in Illustration 4, the logged errors can be deleted. Press the "OK" key (15) to delete the logged error. The delete confirmation screen will appear. To confirm the delete request, move the cursor to the "YES" option and press the "OK" key (15). Refer to Illustration 5.

Illustration 7 g02406277Using Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool to Determine Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) service tool to the ET port on the machine.
Turn the key switch to the RUN position.
Start the Cat ET software on the laptop. Cat ET will initiate communications with the Electronic Control Modules (ECM) on the machine. After communication has been established, Cat ET will list the ECM''s that are used on the machine.

From the "File" menu, choose "Select ECM". Choose the desired ECM to view the diagnostic codes associated with that ECM.

Choose from either "Active Diagnostic Codes" or "Logged Diagnostic Codes".

Review the code list. Active diagnostic information includes a component identifier (CID), a failure mode identifier (FMI), and a text description of the problem.
