Actual labor hours to perform this PSP repair should be claimed on a labor line, up to Service Letter Allowance. If actual labor hours are less than Service Letter Allowance, Dealer may claim for the difference as a miscellaneous expense line. The claim story should detail the labor hours and the labor rate for the miscellaneous expenses.

Rework Procedure
Group Number 1
Before going to the Customer Site:
1. Refer to the installation instructions REHS8850 for all tools required to perform the 2G-3G upgrade from a legacy Product link to a 3G radio system. Carefully check the required parts listed under each group. These machines have a recommended bracket for mounting the radio, a hard mount antenna, and an extra connector to complete the device wiring.
Note: An Ethernet (425-6889) service tool is required to flash the telematics device and radio.
2. Download the flash files and configuration files to your PC for updating the PL641 radio and PLE601 Network Manager:

3. Please check the parts required very carefully for each machine. Research the machine prefix in SIS and take a look at all associated service magazines and service letters that have been published.
At the machine:
4. Perform installation instructions REHS8850 when replacing a PL523 with a PLE641. Carefully check the required parts listed under each group. Step 5 and 6 provides additional information about the installation process on these machines.
5. The T-Series Large Track-Type-Tractors have an easily accessible VIMS Service Connector located in the cab. The associated wiring goes through the main harness and terminates in the headliner near the Product Link PL523 harness. Locate the 9-pin circular connector on the harness supplied in the 480-9645 Pro Radio Installation Kit (Harness P/N: 452-0543, Connector ?C3?). Remove the 4 pins from the 9-pin receptacle and then populate the 102-8804 DT Receptacle Kit as follows:

6. Insert this newly populated connector into the Main Harness Connector ?C-C20?.
7. Make sure to follow the entire process until the device performs a successful communication check.
8. If the device is not communicating, refer to UENR5823 to troubleshoot a PLE641. Please complete a successful communication check before leaving the machine.
9. After the installation is complete, connect up to the machine using Cat ET, and take a Product Status Report (PSR).
10. Once the installation is completed please send all required documents to your PL Technical Communicator and make sure the Radio MAC address is among that documentation.
11. Contact your local PL administrator to deactivate the current legacy device by canceling the subscription from the VisionLink store.
12. Wait one hour after the subscription is canceled and machine history is canceled. The PL Administrator must then subscribe their new Telematics device. Log into the Dealer Service Portal and validate the equipment serial number and ownership in the Equipment Data System. Locate the equipment by the machine Serial Number. Confirm the customer, equipment data, and desired subscription level. Additional information and training can be located at www.dealer.cat.com/pl
