This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM determines that the signal from the auxiliary lever position sensor is out of location. The auxiliary lever position sensor is a PWM sensor.The possible causes for this diagnostic code are listed:

If the diagnostic code is active for at least three seconds, then the 487-13 diagnostic code will become active. The 487-00 diagnostic code will become inactive.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code is corrected. Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.Test Step 1. CHECK THE ALIGNMENT OF THE LEVER POSITION SENSOR
Check the mounting hardware for the lever position sensor. The fasteners should be tight. If the sensor shows any signs of damage the hardware should be replaced.
Check the duty cycle of the lever position sensor. In order to measure the duty cycle of the sensor, use a 9U-7330 Digital Multimeter with a 7X-1710 Probe Group. At the implement ECM, use contact J2-6 and contact J1-15. Move the control lever to the full travel in both directions. Expected Result:The duty cycle should be between 10% and 90%.Results:
YES - The duty cycle is correct.Repair: Calibrate the lever position sensor.STOP
NO - The duty cycle is not correct.Repair: Replace the lever position sensor. Calibrate the new sensor. Check for an active code.STOP
