Other major factors affecting service life are operating speed, loads and conditions.The maintenance intervals listed in the Maintenance Schedule apply to a truck/vehicle operating in near ideal conditions using coolant, fuel and lubricants as listed in the appropriate specifications section.Caterpillar has established a Service Factor Rating to modify the maintenance intervals in the Maintenance Schedule. The intervals must be reduced for operating conditions which are less than ideal. "IDEAL" (Service Factor - 1.0) operating conditions are defined as paved, urban and/or rural highways on flat to gently rolling land.
