Start By:a. remove relief valve (cooler bypass and back pressure) Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Do not remove any valve, hydraulic fitting or valve core, nor disassemble any parts until pressure has been released. Failure to release pressure can cause personal injury or death.
The following steps are to release the pressure in the system:a. Shut off engine.b. With operator in seat and bucket on ground, engage selector valve (pilot control) and actuate an implement control lever about ten times to release pressure in hydraulic system.c. Press the relief valve button on the hydraulic tank breather to release the tank pressure.
Hydraulic oil that is under pressure and hot can cause bodily injury. Move the control levers to relieve pressure in the hydraulic system. Let the hydraulic oil become cool before any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
Mark and identify all hose assemblies for installation purposes. Cap and plug all hose assemblies to avoid system contamination. The hydraulic oil tank can be removed full or empty. If the hydraulic tank is drained, the capacity of the hydraulic tank is 1201 L (317 U.S. gal). 1. Close three blocker valves (1). 2. Position a suitable container under the hose assemblies to contain hydraulic fluid for storage or disposal. Disconnect return filter pressure switch assembly wiring harness (2), at the electrical connection and remove three tie strap (4). Disconnect four hose assemblies (5), (6), (7), and (8) from hydraulic return manifold (3). 3. Disconnect hose assembly (9) from hydraulic return manifold (3). Disconnect tube assembly (11) from hydraulic return manifold (3). Disconnect case drain filter pressure switch wiring harness (10), at the electrical connection. 4. Disconnect liquid level switch (hydraulic oil) wiring harness (12) at the electrical connection. 5. Remove 15 tie straps (13) and wiring harness (14) from hydraulic tank (15). 6. Install Tooling (A)
