The following factory procedures compliment the steps provided in the Service Manual.
Factory Procedure for Checking Correct Cam and Correct Cam Timing
1. Set the No. 3 intake bridge adjustment.2. Set the No. 3 intake valve clearance.3. Install the pin in the flywheel with No. 1 piston at top dead center, firing.4. Install the dial indicator (magnetic base) to No. 3 intake bridge.5. Set the gauge at zero and rotate the engine in the normal direction of operation (counter-clockwise from the rear) until dial travel stops.The chart illustrates correct settings.
