Schematic For The Governor Actuator Motor (1) Governor Actuator Motor Position Sensor. (2) Resistor.A PWM signal is sent from the controller (contact 41 and contact 43) to the governor actuator motor in order to modify the position of the injection pump governor. The PWM signal is 200 Hz and 24 DCV. The duty cycle of the signal varies in response to the changes of the engine speed dial. The governor actuator motor position sensor (contact 15 and contact 24) continuously informs the controller (contact 46) about the actual position of the governor actuator. The controller uses the information to determine when the governor actuator is in the correct position. The sensor signal varies from 0.5 DCV to 4.5 DCV. The controller determines when the signal matches the RPM that is selected by the engine speed dial. Then, the controller stabilizes the PWM signal that is being sent from contact 41 and contact 43.The governor actuator must be calibrated when the governor actuator motor or the controller is replaced. The PDT or the PTS may be used for the calibration. Calibrating allows the controller to know the feedback signal level that corresponds to each engine speed. If the calibrating is not done, the performance of the machine will be reduced.
