This publication contains the information for the correct procedure in order to assemble a fuel hose assembly using one-wire braid hose (716) with stainless steel armour.This supplemental product support literature should be used with the appropriate Service Manual and the appropriate Parts Manual that is available for a standard machine.Refer to the Tool Operating Manual of the machine being used for the tooling needed in the assembly process.References

Cut the new hose to the correct length.
The inside of the hose must be cleaned after cutting to the correct length. Refer to Special Instruction, SEBF8485, "Cleaning Fluid-Carrying Hose and Tube Assemblies in Shop and Field Applications" for the complete cleaning instructions.
Reclaim the old couplings if needed for the new hose assembly.

Install stainless steel armor (1) over the full length of the hose with approximately 30 mm (1.18 inch) excess at each end.
Twist stainless steel armor (1) and pull tight along the length of the hose. Twist stainless steel armor at the other end.

Apply a strip of 50 mm (1.96 inch) masking tape (2) to the stainless steel armor at both ends.

Trim off at both ends the excess stainless steel armor level with the end of the hose.

Install first coupling (3) on the new hose.

Crimp the first coupling onto the hose.Note: Select "294" as the hose type when crimping the couplings.
Install any additional armor guarding if necessary.
Set the angle of orientation of the new couplings.
Crimp the second coupling onto the hose.
Deburr the couplings if necessary.
Clean the final assembly.
Recheck the assembly for the correct angle of orientation and overall assembly length.
Install caps or plugs on the couplings.
