Operator Controls (Screed)
Illustration 1 g03718036
Left Screed Operator Console (1) Vibratory switch (2) Vibratory speed setting (3) Multifunction dial (4) Mode indicator (5) Mode selector switchNote: The left screed operator console is shown in the illustration above. The left console and the right console are similar. However, based on location code, the left console has priority during identical input on both operator stations. When the compaction screen is active (shown), the display screen indicates the currently selected vibratory speed setting (2). Vibratory switch (1) is active on the screen when the engine is operating. When the switch is green, the operator can slide this virtual switch to the right to turn on the vibratory system. The vibratory system defaults to off when the engine is started.Note: The active tractor operator station display is similar and can also turn the vibratory system on and off.Mode selector switch (5) and multifunction dial (3) are located on each screed operator console. The mode selector switch is a momentary switch. This switch allows the operator to choose the control function of the multifunction dial. Each press of the selector switch toggles between one of the four control functions, in the clockwise direction. The operator must select the vibratory mode with mode selector switch (5) in order to control vibratory speed with multifunction dial (3). Vibratory mode indicator (4) is illuminated when the vibratory mode is active. Note: When the vibratory mode is selected, the mode remains enabled for 10 seconds after the last input. The active mode returns to the default mode when this time delay has expired. The default mode is the material height mode.Multifunction dial (3) operates a digital encoder. The encoder continuously rotates in either direction. The screed ECM monitors the input signal from the encoder through the CAN. Clockwise rotation of the dial increases the target vibratory speed to a maximum. Counterclockwise rotation of the dial decreases the target vibratory speed to a minimum. Target vibratory speed is maintained across a key cycle.
