Steering Limp Home Mode
A Steering Limp Home Mode will enable the operator to activate limited steering function when a fault condition in the steering system has caused the Machine ECM to disable the steering system. When a steering system fault is activated, a pop-up message on the Monitoring System Display will ask the operator if the Steering Limp Home should be activated. If the operator selects “Yes”, machine operating conditions that must be met before the Machine ECM will allow the mode to be activated will be displayed. Follow the display instructions in order to meet the requirements.Once the machine operating requirements are met, the Machine ECM will determine if the Steering Limp Home can be activated. The ECM will look for machine system fault status information that is received from the other control modules. The following logic and operating conditions will be used for control of the Steering Limp Home Mode:
If one steering system fault is active and no other steering faults or power train faults are active, the Machine ECM will allow activation of the Steering Limp Home Mode.
If one steering system fault is active and a second steering system fault becomes active, the Machine ECM will not allow Steering Limp Home Mode activation or will disable the operation of the limp home mode if already active.
If one steering system fault is active and a power train system fault becomes active, the Machine ECM will not allow either Steering Limp Home Mode operation or Power Train Limp Home Operation.
If the Machine ECM does not allow activation of the Steering Limp Home Mode, the operator can attempt to reset the active fault by cycling the parking brake. If the reset of the fault is successful, normal operation can resume. If the fault reset attempt is not successful, the operator will have the opportunity to attempt another request to activate the Steering Limp Home Mode. If the second attempt to activate the limp home mode is not allowed, the Machine ECM will not allow another try until the current active fault is cleared.
When the Steering Limp Home Mode is active, machine travel speed will be severely limited.Power Train Limp Home Mode
A Power Train Limp Home Mode is available that will enable the operator to activate limited machine travel functions when a fault condition has caused the Machine ECM to disable the operation of the power train. To activate the Power Train Limp Home Mode in Monitoring System Display, from the Main Menu, select “Service”, then “Limp Home”, then “Powertrain”.Machine conditions that must be met before the Machine ECM will allow the mode to be activated will be displayed. Follow the display instructions to meet the requirements.Once the operator requirements are met, the Machine ECM will use system fault status information from the Generator ECM and the Motor ECM to determine whether to activate the Power Train Limp Home Mode. If the conditions allow activation, the Machine ECM will select one of two limp home submodes. Each submode will enable different operating
