Sudden movement of the machine or release of air under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the air system and brakes.

Make sure that the air pressure is released from the tanks by opening the drain valves.
Close the drain valves.

Retarder control valve (1) Handle (2) Line
Disconnect line (2) and install a tee fitting between the control valve and the line. Attach the test gauge to the tee fitting.
Start the engine and run the engine.
When the air pressure reaches the cut-out pressure, stop the engine.
Move the retarder control lever to the FULLY ACTIVATED position.
Read the pressure on the pressure gauge. The correct pressure setting of the retarder control valve is 500 20 kPa (73 3 psi).
If the pressure setting is not correct, adjust the retarder control valve.Note: Make sure that the system pressure remains above the cut-in pressure.
Remove handle (1) from the control valve.

Remove lock ring (4) .
Turn adjusting ring (3) in the clockwise direction in order to increase the pressure setting of the retarder control valve. Turn adjusting ring (3) in the counterclockwise direction in order to decrease the pressure setting of the retarder control valve.
Install lock ring (4) and handle (1) .
Release the pressure in the air tanks for the tractor and remove the tee fitting and the pressure gauge. Open one of the drain valves in order to release the air pressure.
