Remove Crankshaft Front Seal And Wear Sleeve
start by:a) remove vibration damper and hub The front seal and wear sleeve must both be removed because they must be installed at the same time. 1. Put holes around seal (1) with a sharp punch. 2. Use tooling (A) to remove the seal.
Be careful not to damage the crankshaft. Make sure the distorter ring is installed to prevent damage to the crankshaft seal bore. Make sure the knife edge of the distorter is used against the wear sleeve. The distorter will be damaged if the knife edge of the distorter is used against the distorter ring.
3. Install the 5P7317 Ring (2) from tool group (B) in the spacer where the seal was removed.4. Put the end of the 5P7312 Distorter (3) in the space where the seal was removed. Use a socket and a ratchet to turn the distorter to cause distortion to the wear sleeve. Move the distorter to another position and turn the distorter again. Do this procedure until the wear sleeve is loose.5. Remove the distorter and ring. Remove the wear sleeve.Install Crankshaft Front Seal And Wear Sleeve
1. Install 5P7302 Locator (3) on the front of the crankshaft with 9S8889 Bolts (5). Put clean engine oil on the lip of seal (2) and on the outside diameter of wear sleeve (4). Use 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer to clean surface (A) of crankshaft (1) and the inside diameter (B) of the wear sleeve. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on the outside surface (A) and inside diameter (B). 2. Be sure the 5P7297 Installer will slide easily over the locator and crankshaft. Put wear sleeve (4) with seal (2) in position as shown.3. Install 5P7297 Installer (7) and 9S8858 Nut (6). Put lubricant at location (C) [between the face of the washer on nut (6) and its contact area on installer (7)]. Tighten nut (6) until installer (7) is against locator (3). 4. Remove tooling (A).end by:a) install vibration damper and hub
