Information:
Remove & Install Turbocharger (Marine Engine)
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.2. Disconnect the turbocharger from the exhaust system. 3. Loosen the clamps and remove hose (2). Remove tube assembly (1). 4. Remove oil supply line (3), tube assembly (4) and vent line (5). 5. Loosen the clamps and remove hose (6) and turbocharger oil drain line (7). 6. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect tube (11) from adapter assembly (8). Remove air cleaner element (10), tube (9) and adapter assembly (8). 7. Remove the bolt and washer that hold elbow (12) in the turbocharger housing. Remove bolts (13) and elbow (12). 8. Fasten a hoist to the turbocharger and remove nuts (14). Remove the turbocharger. The weight of the turbocharger is 36 kg (80 lb). The following steps are for installation of the turbocharger.9. Make sure the studs are tightened in the exhaust manifold assembly to a torque of 25 4 N m (20 3 lb ft).10. Install the gasket on the exhaust manifold assembly.11. Fasten a hoist and put the turbocharger in position. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the studs and nuts (14). Install the nuts and tighten them to a torque of 55 5 N m (40 4 lb ft).12. If necessary, make a replacement of the O-ring seals on elbow (12) and put clean engine oil on them. Put 8H4137 Sealer on the threads of the bolts that hold elbow (12) to the inlet manifold.13. Install the gasket and elbow (12). Install the bolt and washer to hold elbow (12) in the turbocharger housing. Install two of bolts (13).14. Install adapter assembly (8) on the turbocharger housing. Connect tube (11) to adapter assembly (8) and install tube (9). Tighten the small hose clamps to a torque of 2.3 0.2 N m (20 2 lb in).15. Install air cleaner element (10).16. Install oil drain line (7) and hose (6).17. Install vent line (5), turbocharger oil supply line (3) and tube assembly (4).18. Install tube assembly (1) and hose (2).19. Connect the turbocharger to the exhaust system.20. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level.Disassemble & Assemble Turbocharger (Marine Engine)
Start By:a. remove turbocharger 1. Install turbocharger in tool group (A). Put marks on the three housings of the turbocharger for correct installation and alignment at assembly. Loosen "V" clamp (2) and remove compressor housing (1).2. Loosen "V" clamp (3). Remove cartridge housing (4) from turbine housing (5). 3. Put the cartridge assembly in tool (B) as shown.
When the nut that holds compressor wheel (6) is loosened, do not put a side force on the shaft.
4. Use tool (C) and remove the nut that holds compressor wheel (6). Remove compressor wheel (6). 5. Remove the turbine shaft (7) from the cartridge housing. 6. Remove seal ring (9) and shroud (8) from turbine shaft (7). 7. Use tool (D) and remove ring (11) that holds insert (10) in the cartridge housing. 8. Remove insert (10) with
