Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Do not use a torch to heat camshaft gear (7). Raise the temperature of camshaft gear (7). Note: The key for camshaft gear (7) must be in position on the camshaft before camshaft gear (7) is installed.
Apply Tooling (B) to the camshaft lobes and the rollers for the valve lifter. Apply clean engine oil to the bearing journals of the camshaft.

Install camshaft (6) until the rear of the camshaft is even with the rear of the cylinder block.

Align Marks “V” on the camshaft gear and the idler gear.

Install plate (4) and bolts (5) on the cylinder block.

Install gear (3), plate (2), and bolts (1) on the rear of the camshaft. End By:
Install the flywheel housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel Housing - Remove and Install".
Install the lifter group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lifter Group - Remove and Install".
Install the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Install".
