Procedure to Update the Oil Filter Group with the Improved Valve kit
Use the following procedure to update the oil filter groups in the brake cooling, transmission, and torque converter oil lines:
Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
Move the transmission control to the PARK position.
Activate the parking brakes. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to OFF position.
Make sure that all oil pressure is released before any fittings, hoses, or components are worked on.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil.Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to ensure that the accumulator pressure is zero. The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or the cap from the top of the accumulator.
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the respective hydraulic oil tank or pull vacuum on the tank to prevent oil from draining.

Typical example
Remove the plug (7) and the O-ring seal (8) and drain oil from the filter bowl. Save the plug (7) and discard the O-ring seal (8) .
Remove the cover (4), oil filter element (5), and the O-ring seal (6) and save the cover (4). Discard the oil filter element (5) and the O-ring seal (6) .
Remove four bolts (9) and two half flanges (3) and save the parts.
Remove the hose assembly (1) and the O-ring seal (2) in the outlet side of the filter and save the hose assembly. Discard the O-ring seal (2). Cover the open end of the hose assembly (1) .

Existing anti-backflow valve
To remove the existing valve kit from the housing of the oil filter group, use the following procedure:
Insert a flat bar through the anti-backflow valve opening at an angle and rest the flat bar against one of the legs of the valve.
Turn the valve in the counterclockwise direction with the flat bar.
After removing the valve, clean the cavity and remove
