3406B (PEEC) (8TC) Truck EnginesA new 7C3095 Water Temperature Regulator is available for parts service on 3406 and 3406B Truck Engines. The new regulator can be used as a direct replacement for the 4W4842 Water Temperature Regulator. Both regulators have an opening temperature of 88 °C (190°F). Use the new regulator in applications where cab heating and/or engine temperatures are not high enough. The new regulator has a flange that is coated with rubber. This helps prevent leakage around the regulator that can result in overcooling.
To minimize corrosion and/or carbon build-up on internal engine components, the jacket water temperature must be kept above 79 °C (175°). If overcooling continues after the regulator is replaced, install an orifice or 8N9071 Check Valve in the vent line between the cylinder head and radiator.
