The 387-3167 Valve and Lines Gp-Coupler kit that is available from Cat® Work Tools for the 980K Wheel Loader uses a separate switch in the cab in order to actuate the coupler rather than using the available switch on the soft switch panel that is located on the right side of the cab.Solution
The following changes can be made to accommodate the use of the available switch on the soft switch panel in the cab. This change will also provide similar functionality, such as the buzzer will sound when the coupler is disengaged, as with the 950K through 972K Wheel Loaders.

1 321-8473 Control Valve and Mounting Gp Keypad interface in the cab requires that the 321-8473 Control Valve and Mounting Gp be used for the quick coupler instead of the 371-9415 Diverter Valve Gp that is currently in the 387-3167 Valve and Lines Gp-Coupler kit. The 387-3167 Valve and Lines Gp-Coupler valve is larger and must be located in a manner that ensures clearance to the cab when the machine articulates. Adjustments to the hose lengths and routings may be required.A six wire jumper harness will need to be fabricated to connect the valve group to the bulkhead connectors at the rear of the cab. The wiring harness that is currently included with the 321-8473 Control Valve and Mounting Gp kit cannot be used.The lower cab connector is "C1". The upper cab connector is "C2". The pinouts are as follows:
Pin 1 on the valve connects to pin 20 in "C2".
Pin 2 on the valve connects to pin 58 in "C2".
Pin 3 on the valve connects to pin 50 in "C2".
Pins 4 and 6 on the valve connect through a splice to pin 24 in "C2".
Pin 5 on the valve connects to pin 23 in "C1".Once the new harness has been installed, the keypad interface will need to be activated in order to actuate the quick coupler.
