When performing lubrication or maintenance, unless otherwise specified:1. Park the machine on level ground.2. Neutralize transmission and apply neutral lock.3. Lower bowl, apron and bail.4. Apply the parking brake.5. Stop the engines.
Read and understand all warning and caution information provided on the machine. Actuation of steering or hitch controls can cause movement - reducing hitch clearances suddenly.To avoid possible weakening of the ROPS (Rollover Protective Structure), consult a Caterpillar dealer before altering the ROPS in any way. The protection offered by the ROPS will be impaired if it has been subjected to structural damage or involved in an overturn accident.Store oily rags and other combustible materials in a safe place.Wear protective glasses and shoes as required.Do not attempt repairs you do not understand.Operate the engines only in a well ventilated area.Do not allow unauthorized personnel on the machine while it is being serviced.Promote good housekeeping. Keep tools and the work area clean.Repair or replace broken or damaged equipment. Use the proper tools.Do not smoke while refueling.Do not smoke when observing electrolyte level. Batteries give off flammable fumes. Use steps, grab irons and walk areas provided when mounting, dismounting or moving around on the machine. Use a self-attaching air chuck and stand behind the tread when inflating tires. Lower the bowl onto blocks before changing cutting edges or router bits. Use the blocking pin to block the apron before changing cutting edges or router bits. Turn the disconnect switch off and remove the key when servicing the electrical system. Attach a DO NOT OPERATE tag to the controls while the machine is being serviced.When using a booster battery, or an outside electrical source, as a starting aid, attach ground cable last and to a point below and away from batteries.Do not weld on lines filled with oil. Oil is flammable.Remove the hydraulic oil filler cap, radiator cap, or cap or plug for any reservoir under pressure, slowly to relieve pressure in the reservoir. Allow oil to cool before draining.
