WVE by NTK 1S1706 Engine Cooling Fan Switch, 1 Pack
WVE by NTK Cooling fan switch closes the circuit to engage the cooling fan(s) when the optimum temperature is reached || When not replaced, cooling system fans will either remain continually "on" or not function causing the engine to overheat, internal engine damage and/or temperature light illumination || Designed to meet or exceed OE specifications in form, fit and function || Global coverage for import and/or domestic applications

Caterpillar Engines Equipped With Remote Oil FiltersSUPPLEMENT: 11/12/80ENGINE NEWS, OCTOBER 1, 1980, PAGE 3, "Install A New Oil Filter Element, Clean The Oil Lines And The Remote Filter Base; Turn The Engine Until The Oil Gauge Shows Pressure Before Starting A Rebuilt Engine"; PAGE 6, "Use Starter To Turn Crankshaft For 30 Seconds Or Until Oil Pressure Gauge Shows Pressure, Before Engine Is Started". The above articles tell you to use the starter to turn the engine crankshaft and get oil pressure before starting the engine.
The starter motors used in Caterpillar products are high-power motors which are made for short periods of operation-30 seconds or less. Operation periods longer than 30 seconds can damage the starter motor because there is no way to dissipate (discharge) heat created (made) during operation.
The correct procedure is to operate the starter for no more than 30 seconds, then permit it to cool for two minutes or more. Then, again operate the starter for no more than 30 seconds and let it cool for two minutes or more.
Add this information to both of the above articles, and make a reference to this supplement.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------When reconditioning an engine after a major failure, be sure to install a new oil filter element, and clean the remote oil filter base and its supply and return hoses. Then, with the governor control lever in the "fuel off" position, use the starter to turn the crankshaft until the engine gets oil pressure before starting the engine.
If a new filter is not installed and/or the remote filter base and supply and return hoses are not completely cleaned, debris from the failure can cause another engine failure.
If there is no oil pressure when the engine is started, there is a short period when the crankshaft bearings have a load, but no lubrication. This condition, after many engine starts and stops, can possibly cause wear and bearing failures.
