(5) Rear of engine Note: The front of the engine is opposite the flywheel housing end. The left side and the right side of the engine are viewed from the flywheel housing. The front of the machine may not be the front of the engine. The front of the machine should not be used as a reference for determining the orientation of the engine.

(9) Lubricate the O-ring seal and the bore lightly with clean engine oil.
One engine harness assembly is used for two cylinders under each valve cover.
The white connector (6) is marked "F" (7). Assemble the white connector (6) to the injector on the front cylinder for the wire harness. The front cylinder numbers are 1, 5, and 9 on the left side of the engine. The front cylinder numbers are 2, 6, and 10 on the right side of the engine.
The black connector (12) is marked "R" (11). Assemble the black connector (12) to the injector on the rear cylinder for the wire harness. The rear cylinder numbers are 3, 7, and 11 on the left side of the engine. The rear cylinder numbers are 4, 8, and 12 on the right side of the engine.
Tighten the nuts (10) to 2.50 0.25 N m (22 2 lb in). Note: Cylinders 9, 10, 11, and 12 are not applicable for an eight cylinder engine.
