Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there is adequate clearance if the machine being transported is equipped with a ROPS/FOPS, cab or canopy.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown).2. Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL.3. Engage the parking brake.4. Stop the engine.5. Turn the start switch and the battery disconnect switch keys to OFF and remove the keys.6. Install tiedowns at several locations, and block tracks, front and rear.7. Cover the engine exhaust opening. Improper lifting or tiedowns allows load to shift and cause injury or damage.

Parking brake must be engaged before slinging or tiedown.3. Use proper rated cables and slings for lifting. Position slings beneath track at front and rear for machine without ripper. Position slings beneath track at front and under ripper at rear for machine with ripper.4. On sharp corners, use corner protectors. Position crane for level machine lift. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine.5.
