Information:

1. Remove guards (1), (2) and (3) from the track roller frame. 2. Install a slug that is 3.5 in. (88.9 mm) in diameter and 2.5 in. (63.5 mm) long between the track and sprocket segment. Move the machine to the rear so the track will be moved up by the slug against the track bushing. This will put tension on the track and move the front idler and track adjuster to the rear against the force of the recoil spring. Move the machine until the front pilot of the recoil spring assembly is approximately .125 in. (3.2 mm) away from the stops that are fastened to the track roller frame. 3. Tighten nut (4) to keep the tension on recoil spring (5). Move the machine to the front and remove the slug from the sprocket.4. Make a separation of the tracks. See Separation of Tracks. 5. Remove guards (6) from each side of the front idler. 6. Remove bolts (7) to disconnect rod (8) from the track adjuster.7. Move the front idler, yoke assembly and rod (8) to the front of the machine as far as possible. 8. Remove stops (9) from each side of the roller frame. 9. Fasten a hoist to spring (5) and remove the spring and track adjuster (10) as a unit. The weight of the unit is 325 lb. (146 kg). 10. Remove track adjuster (10) from the recoil spring. 11. Remove O-ring seal (11) from the pilot assembly of the recoil spring.Install Recoil Springs And Track Adjusters
1. Put clean grease on O-ring seal (1) and install it in the pilot assembly of the recoil spring. 2. Install track adjuster (2) in the recoil spring pilot assembly. 3. Fasten a hoist to recoil spring (3) and put it in position on the track roller frame. 4. Install stops (4) on each side of the roller frame. 5. Push the front idler, yoke assembly and rod (5) to the rear of the machine.6. Install the bolts and nuts that hold rod (5) and track adjuster (2) together. 7. Install guards (6) on each side of the yoke assembly.8. Make a connection of the tracks. See Connection of Tracks.9. Put the recoil spring under compression to loosen nut (8) as follows: a) Put multipurpose type grease in the track adjuster until the front idler starts to move.b) Put slug (7) in position in the sprocket segment as shown. Start the machine and move it to the rear slowly.c) As the machine is moved to the rear make sure the slug makes contact with a track bushing between the track link.d) Move the machine until the recoil spring has enough compression on it so nut (8) can be loosened by hand. 10. Loosen nut (8) until it is extended beyond the end of the bolt for the recoil spring .06 .03 in. (1.5 0.8 mm). Install bolt (9) and the washer.11. Move the machine forward and remove slug (7) from the sprocket.
