The tapered bearings supporting the idler gear in the output transfer gear group may fail due to pitting. Typical failures are reported with machines that have over 3,000 hours. It is suspected that these machines are subjected to low speed, high load applications and/or high oil temperatures which can contribute to the bearing failures.Solution
