Gradually tighten nut (10). Then, check the torque. Measure the torque by rotation of the pinion within the bearings. The correct preload torque is 0.3 to 1.35 N m (2.66 to 12.0 lb in).
Bend the tab on the lockwasher into the slot on the nut.Procedure for the Preload Torque of the Carrier Bearings
Gradually tighten three equally spaced bolts (2). Then, check the torque. Measure the torque by rotation of the planetary carrier within the bearings. The correct preload torque is 2.25 to 4.0 N m (20 to 35 lb in).
Measure the gap between plate (3) and carrier housing (18). Select a shim pack (4) of equal thickness to the measurement.
Remove bolts (2) and install shim pack (4) .
Install bolts (2) and tighten the bolts.
Measure the torque and adjust the torque again in Step 1.
