Unexpected blade movement may occur when the blade control system is in automatic mode. Unexpected blade movements that occur while mounting or dismounting the machine may result in injury or death. Before dismounting the machine, always place the automatic blade control system into manual mode and follow the machine parking procedures specified in the machine Operation Manual.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.Prevent possible injury by performing the procedure that follows before working on the machine.Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel and lower the implement to the ground.Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from machine or in view of the operator.Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions to release the pressure in the hydraulic system.
Introduction
Note: The contents of the "Setup Menu" are configurable at the job site. The number of items that are in the "Setup Menu" may vary depending on the "Operator Configuration" settings of your system and the machine settings. Refer to your supervisor if a specific option is not available.As the machine is operated, the cutting edge of the blade wears away. Enter information for blade wear so that the Cat® Grade Control system can adjust for the wear of the cutting edge.Entering the Blade Wear
The height of the blade is measured from the center of the retaining bolts to the cutting edge. If the blade wear is uneven, use an average value. However, guidance will never be better than the range of the differences.To set the "Blade Wear" height, complete the following steps:
Follow all safety procedures outlined in this manual and the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual. Be certain the blade is in the down position before performing the following procedure.

With the blade of the machine in the down position on the ground, measure the height of the cutting edge to the center of the bolt holes. Refer to Illustration 1.

From the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog, select the "Blade Wear" option. Refer to Illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g02750897Note: Be aware of the units. If the display is set up in metric units, the blade measurement must be entered in metric units. If the display is set up in feet, the blade measurement must be entered in tenths of feet.
Use the arrow keys to enter a value into the "Cutting Edge Height" field. Refer to Illustration 3.
Perform one of the following actions:
Press the OK key to accept the changes
