Problem
The transmission pump drive gears in certain D35 HP and D400 Articulated Dump Trucks were not machined to the correct profile. This can generate debris and possibly a gear failure. Also, the 6U3302 Gear used in the December 12, 1986, Service Letter was too soft.

Action Required
Parts Stock Remove all 6U3302 Gears from parts stock. Affected Product Remove the existing transmission pump drive gear and install the new gear, shaft, nut, washer, key and circle clip. Inspect the bearings and replace if necessary. See Illustration 1. Drain the oil from the transmission gearbox case. Clean the magnetic screen in the gearbox. Remove the cover assembly from the bottom of the torque converter housing. Clean the screen and clean the inside of the bottom of the torque converter housing. If the screen is damaged install a new 4H2978 Screen Assembly. Install a new transmission filter element assembly. Remove the existing orifice and install a 3T7726 Orifice and seal in the selector and pressure control valve group. See Illustration 2. Fill the transfer gearbox with oil.
