Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine oil cooler. Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Illustration 1 g01977796Note: Place marks on the bonnet and the engine oil cooler core for proper assembly.
Remove bolts (5) and bonnet (4) from engine oil cooler core (6). Remove the gasket from engine oil cooler core (6).
Remove bolts (1) and inlet elbow (2) from engine oil cooler core (6).
Remove tube (3) and the O-ring seals.

Remove tube assembly (9) and tube assembly (12). Remove the O-ring seal. Note: Place marks on the bonnet and the engine oil cooler core for proper assembly.
Remove bolts (11) and bonnet (10) from engine oil cooler core (6). Remove the gasket from engine oil cooler core (6).
Remove bolts (8), bypass elbow (7), and the O-ring seal from engine oil cooler core (6).

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Remove bolts (13), cover (16), O-ring seal (15), spring (14), and bypass valve (17) from bypass elbow (7).
