Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Lubricate all the moving parts of the pump. This prevents damaging the pump during start-up.

Install studs (35) into body (9). Install two bushings (34) into body (9). Install the bushings until the bushings are seated in the body. Install spool valve (33) and spring (32) into body (9) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install the O-ring seals and plug (31) onto body (9). Install the O-ring seal and fitting (30) onto body (9) .

Install bushings (22) into body (21). Install the bushings until the bushings are seated in the body. Install dowel pins (23) into body (21). Install seal assembly (24) and plate (28) into body (21). Install drive gear (25), idler gear (29), plate (26), and seal assembly (27) into body (21) .

Position body (21) onto body (9). Install nuts (20) that secure body (21) onto body (9) .

Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (19) into coupler (17) .

Install ring (18) and coupler (17) into body (9) .

Install bushings (10) into body (3). Install bushings (10) until bushings (10) are seated in the body. Install seal assembly (11) and plate (12) into body (3). Install idler gear (13), drive gear (15), plate (14), and seal assembly (16) into body (3) .

Position the O-ring seal and body (3) onto body (9) .

Install bushings (8) into flange (2). Install bushings (8) until bushings (8) are seated in the flange. Install dowel pins (7) into flange (2) .

Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (5) into flange (2). Install lip seals (4) and (6) into flange (2). Install the lip seals with the spring side of the lip seals toward the pump. Install the lip seals until the lip seals are seated against the retaining ring. Lubricate the lip seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Position the O-ring seal and flange (2) onto body (3). Install nuts (1) that secure flange (2) onto body (3) .End By: Install the secondary steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Secondary Steering) - Install".
