Circuit Description
The 9G9287 Control Assembly (Shutdown) is a 70 10 second timer that powers the engine shutdown solenoid to stop the engine. After this period, the 9G9287 Control Assembly times out and turns off the solenoid.
Power is always applied between Pins 1 and 2 providing the disconnect switch is closed. The shutdown timer is activated by either the fire suppression system (if the machine is so equipped) or the key switch for normal shutdown. This activation takes place only if battery voltage is applied to either Pin 7 (fire suppression) or Pin 6 when the key switch is in the "Off" position. If a restart is required during the 70 second timer period, the control is reset (the timer shuts off) when the start switch is placed in the "Start" position. Battery voltage is then applied to the "Reset", Pin 5.
Troubleshooting Procedure
If the engine will not start, use a 6V7070 Multimeter to check for battery voltage (should be more than 20 volts) on the shutdown solenoid. If voltage is present, determine which input (Pin 6 or 7) is causing the timer to turn "ON". Check to make sure the solenoid shuts off after 70 seconds and that the timer is reset with battery voltage on Pin 5 when the key switch is in the "Start" position.
It is very important that the control has a good ground. Pin 2 of the control wiring harness should have less than one ohm (approximate) resistance to machine frame.
Without battery voltage applied to Pins 5, 6 and 7, the voltage to these pins will read approximately 15 to 22 volts because of internal circuits.
