1. Remove fan guards (1).2. Loosen three alternator bolts (2). Slide alternator (3) towards the engine.3. Maneuver the V-belt or V-belts (4) around the fan inside the radiator shroud.4. Remove the V-belt or V-belts. Check for wear or damage. If equipped, always replace the two alternator V-belts when one is to be replaced. For installation of the alternator V-belt or V-belts, reverse the removal steps. Refer to Specifications Manual SENR5541 for information on the V-belt tension. If the V-belt is not to be checked by a gauge, press down on the V-belt with the thumb at the center of the longest free length and check the deflection. With moderate thumb pressure, 45 N (10 lb), the deflection is 3/8 10 mm ( inch). When checking V-belts, always use the tighter of the two V-belts to adjust tension.
