Typical Example
Attach Tooling (A) to axle (1). Attach Tooling (B) to Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to lift axle (1). The weight of axle (1) is approximately 666 kg (1468 lb).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to rotate axle (1). Place axle (1) onto Tooling (C) in a vertical position as shown in Illustration 2.
Secure axle (1) onto Tooling (C) using appropriate size bolts.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove axle housing (3) from axle (1). Remove bolts (2) and axle housing (3). The weight of axle housing (3) is approximately 138 kg (304 lb).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

Remove retaining ring (4) and hub (5).

Remove plate (6) and friction disc (7).

Remove springs (9) and (10) from dowels (8).

Remove brake piston (11), ring seals (12), and (13).
Repeat step 2 through step 8 for the remaining service brake. The weight of the remaining assembly is approximately 300 kg (661 lb).Installation Procedure
Install the service brake in the reverse order of removal.

Apply Tooling (D) to the mating surface of the differential housing and the axle housing.
Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 300 40 N m (221 30 lb ft).
