Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect harness assemblies (2) in order to remove temperature control valve (1).
Attach a suitable lifting device in order to remove temperature control valve (1). The weight of temperature control valve (1) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). Remove bolts (3), the washers, the elbow, and the O-ring seal. Remove bolts (5) and the washers.
Remove bolts (6) and the washers. Remove bolts (4) and the washers. Remove temperature control valve (1).
