The existing silencer material can degrade and begin to fall apart on certain 793D XQ Off-Highway Trucks. If the existing silencer material fails, the machine will no longer meet sound attenuation requirements.

ACTION REQUIRED
Replace existing fiberglass material with the new polyester based material. Attach additional panels to front wall of body. This can be done by welding the dealer fabricated bosses, shown in the images, to the body.

Rework Procedure
Layout silencer panels for body installation as shown in Image 1.1.1. Use the holes in the panels to mark the location of mounting bosses.

Fabricate bosses (Part 1) as shown in Image 1.2.1. Weld bosses to body using the locations determined earlier. Weld should be a 6mm fillet weld. Refer to Special Instruction REHS1841 "General Welding Procedures" for weld specifications.

Attach silencer panels to body using the 7X-0586 Washers and 8T-4171 Bolts.
