GEAR-SUN 6T7880 - Caterpillar

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Operate the machine for a few minutes in order to warm the hydraulic system oil. Park the machine on level ground. Stop the engine.

Open the hood behind the cab. The hydraulic tank is located behind the cab.

Remove five bolts (1) and front guard (2) .

Remove bolts (3) and side guard (4) .

The drain valve is located on the lower front corner on the left side of the tank. Remove the plug at the bottom of the valve.
The drain valve is an ecology drain valve. Attach a 25 mm (1 inch) hose to the end of a 126-7914 Oil Drain Coupling. Screw the oil drain coupling into the drain valve in order to unseat the internal valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Remove the oil drain coupling and install the plug.

Fill the hydraulic oil tank by using oil pump (6). The oil pump is located in front of the hydraulic tank. Use the following procedure to fill the hydraulic tank.
Inspect the condition of the hoses that are attached to oil pump (6). Make sure that the hoses are clean and free of any blockages.
Connect hose (8) to coupler (5) on the hydraulic tank. Insert hose (7) into the source of new hydraulic oil.

Switch box (9) is located on the right side of the machine. Right switch (11) operates the oil pump. Hold down right switch (11) in order to activate the oil pump. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil.Reference: For more information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".Left switch (10) controls the vacuum pump for the hydraulic tank.Reference: For more information about using the vacuum pump, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Vacuum Pump Control".
Maintain the oil level within the upper region of sight gauge (12) .Note: Do not allow the oil level to be higher than the upper region of the sight gauge. If the tank is too full, the oil can overflow from the top of the hydraulic tank.
Release switch (11) in order to turn off the oil pump.
Disconnect the hose from the coupler on the hydraulic tank. Place the hoses back into the storage position.
Install front guard (2) and side guard (4). Close the hood.
