GEAR AS 6Y0821 - Caterpillar

(1) Make a drill fixture with SAE1020 steel as shown. Install two 1N8510 Dowels (1) and two 5H3193 Spring Pins (2). Install sleeve drill bushing (3) for a .812"Ø (Ø20,6) drill and with a .0005" (0,013) press fit between the drill bushing and the plate. (2) Put drill fixture (4) in the existing holes. Also drill the three holes that have threads; the three dowel holes are already larger than .812"Ø (Ø20,6). (3) Hold drill fixture (4) to the flange half of the differential with a clamp; drill the hole. Move the fixture around the flange half to drill the remaining holes.(4) When installing the bevel gear, put lubricant on the washer faces and threads of the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 320 10 lb. ft. (44,25 1,38). Check the torque on each bolt.
