1. Assemble cover and pin without shim pack.
2. Tighten bolts lightly to remove end play.
3. Measure maximum gap between cover and axle housing surface.
4. Select and install shim thickness to provide −0.03 mm (−0.001 inch) ( preload ) to 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) (end play) in pin.
1 54 1D-4626 Bolt Torque to 300 30 N m (221 22 lb ft).
Tighten bolts to an additional turn angle of 120 10 degrees.
2 1 6W-8401 Pin Diameter is 34.87 to 34.92 mm (1.372 to 1.374 inch).
3 2 7D-4719 Spring Length under test force is 36.3 mm (1.43 inch).
Test force is 980 98 N (220 22 lb).
Free length is 81.3 mm (3.20 inch).
4 - - Tighten bolts to 1825 175 N m (1346 129 lb ft).
