WHEEL SCRAPER,
Information:
When the bucket operator signals that the truck is loaded engage first gear, release the park brake and drive slowly forward. Drive very slowly for a few seconds to allow the suspension to self level before accelerating away. Leave the loading area with care - be alert for other vehicles, obstacles and personnel.Dumping
Before dumping make sure the area is clear of personnel and obstructions. If a spotter is present, follow his directions.Position the truck straight for dumping, apply the parking brakes and shift to neutral. Make sure the truck is stationary before dumping starts.Open the tailgate (if equipped with powered tailgate).Move the hoist control lever to HOIST and increase engine speed to high idle to power the body up.Reduce the engine speed as the body approaches its limit of travel and move the hoist control lever to HOLD. The engine speed should be reduced because damage may result if the hoist cylinders repeatedly hit their stops at high speed.
When dumping into an excavation watch out for soft edges. The use of stopping blocks or similar safety precautions is recommended.
When the load is dumped shift to first gear, release the parking brake and drive the machine slowly forward until clear of the dumped load. Apply the parking brake and shift to neutral.Move the hoist control lever to DOWN to lower the body.Return the hoist control lever to FLOAT. It is possible to complete lowering of the dump body with the lever in the FLOAT position once initial power has been applied to start it moving.Close the tailgate (if equipped with powered tailgate).Engage first gear, release the park brake and drive slowly forward. Allow the suspension to "self level" before accelerating.
Do not drive off until the body is fully lowered.
Tire Inflation Information
Inflation of Tires with Nitrogen
Improperly inflated tires can cause excessive heat build up, resulting in blowouts.Proper nitrogen inflation equipment and training in its use are necessary to avoid over inflation. A tire blowout or rim failure can result from improper or misused equipment.
Over or under inflated tires can cause excessive or uneven tire wear or rim damage.Keep the valve caps on to prevent dirt from entering the valve stems. Otherwise, valve damage can occur.
Caterpillar recommends using dry nitrogen (N2) gas for both tire inflation and tire pressure adjustments on all current and past production rubber tired machines. Nitrogen is an inert gas and will not support combustion inside the tire.In addition to reducing the risk of an explosion, using nitrogen instead of air to inflate tires lessens the slow oxidation of the rubber and the accompanying gradual tire deterioration. This is especially important for tires that have an expected long service life (four or more years). It also reduces the corrosion of rim components and the resultant disassembly problems.
Set the tire inflation equipment regulator at no more than 140 kPa (20 psi) over the recommended tire pressure.
Because a fully charged nitrogen cylinder's pressure is approximately 15 000 kPa (2200 psi), a tire blowout and/or rim failure can occur
