Perform the following actions to ensure that pressure has been relieved from the system before any maintenance is done or before any components are disengaged:
Ensure that the engine is not operational. Install a "DO NOT OPERATE" or a similar warning tag to the ignition keyswitch. Follow an approved LOCKOUT / TAGOUT procedure.
Ensure that the transmission is disengaged.
Ensure that no fluid is being delivered to the suction lines that are connected to the pump manifold.
Ensure that the discharge line does not have a restriction. A restriction in the discharge line may produce excessive pressure in the discharge system. This excessive pressure may damage all components in the discharge system.
Ensure that the relief valve on the discharge system is open.
Check the readings on the pressure release gauges on the inlet and on the outlet piping to ensure that no pressure remains.
