Engines loaded on the wooded shipping pallets gets dislocated or moved during transport. The dislocation of engine causes damage to the bolted restraints on the wooden shipping pallet.

Note: If moving engine and skid with a fork truck, ensure the forks are set as wide as possible to ensure the wood skid does not flex. If engine has been found to have shifted significantly on the pallet as shown in Illustration 2, inspect the front trunnion mount for damage.Solution
Caterpillar® is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been identified.Inspect all part stock or exchange engines in inventory prior to moving the engine with fork lift to ensure the engine is securely restrained.Note: Do not attempt to pick up and move an engine on a pallet or skid that is damaged or where the engine weight is shifted.
