Adjustment of Updrive Gears End Play

(1) Transfer gear (2) Spacer (3) Shim pack (4) Bolt (5) Lip seal (6) Updrive output shaft (7) Yolk (8) Bolt (9) Retainer (10) O-ring seal (11) Cage (12) Retaining ring
Install updrive output shaft (6) into transfer gear (1) .
Install retaining ring (12) in the groove to secure updrive output shaft (6) to transfer gear (1) .
Install the full 186-8848 Shim Pack (3) and cage (11). Do not install the O-ring seals on cage (11). Install eight bolts (4). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).
Measure the end endplay of transfer gear (1). Add or subtract shims between cage (11) and the housing to get an endplay measurement of 0.15 0.05 mm (0.006 0.002 inch).
When the correct shim pack thickness has been obtained, remove cage (11) and install the O-ring seals and lip type seal (5) on cage (11). Install cage (11) and tighten eight bolts (4) to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).
Install spacer (2) and yoke (7). Install O-ring seal (10), retainer (9) and bolt (8). Tighten bolt (8) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).
