Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Thoroughly clean the area around the valve covers in order to prevent the entry of foreign matter into the cylinder and valve mechanism. After the valve covers are removed, put a clean cover over the opening in order to prevent the entry of airborne dust and abrasive particles.
Drain the engine coolant to a level below the cylinder heads.
Remove the water manifold segment before the valve cover is removed.

Loosen the clamp (1) and the clamp (3). Remove the breather assembly (2) from the valve cover.
Remove the bolts and the cover (4) from the base (6). Remove the seal (5) from the cover (4).
Remove the four bolts and the base (6) from the cylinder head. Remove the seal (7) from the base (6). Installation Procedure
Ensure that the seal (7) is in position in the base (6). Put the base (6) into position on the cylinder head. Install the four bolts that hold the base in place.
Ensure that the seal (5) is in place in the cover (4). Install the cover (4) on the base.
Put glycerin on the O-ring seal for the breather (2). Put the breather (2) in position. Tighten the clamp (1) and the clamp (3) to a torque of 3.0 0.5 N m (27 4 lb in).
Replace the segment that was removed from the water manifold.
Fill the engine with coolant to the proper level. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance Manual for additional information.
