Loading on a Lowboy Trailer
Automatic Engine Speed Control (AEC) will increase engine speed automatically when you operate the control levers and/or travel pedals with AEC switch ON.When loading and unloading machine from truck or working in close quarters always turn AEC switch OFF to prevent any possibility of sudden movement of machine, which could result in serious injury or death.Set the travel speed control switch to "LOW" before loading the machine. Never try to operate this switch when loading the machine on a trailer.
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance if the machine being transported is equipped with a FOPS or cab.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Position the machine with the front facing the trailer. With the boom over the trailer, apply down pressure to raise the front of the machine. 2. Move the stick in and move the machine forward at the same time until the front of the machine goes on the trailer bed. 3. Raise the boom and swing the upper structure 180°. Apply down pressure to raise the rear of the machine. Move the stick out while traveling onto the trailer. 4. Position the machine parallel to the trailer.Loading a Clamshell Machine
Always use a ramp. Never apply down pressure through the boom and clamshell linkage, to raise the machine onto trailer. When laying the clamshell on its side, be sure hoses are not trapped between the fork bracket and the trailer or flatcar bed.
Tie hoses to the fork bracket to prevent damage.Securing the Machine
Comply with regulations governing length, width, height and weight of the load.1. Lower the implements. 2. Align the upper structure with the track and engage the swing lock pin.
Upper structure movement can cause personal injury or death. To prevent structure movement, visually inspect to be sure the pin is engaged.
3. Move the hydraulic activation control lever back to the locked position. 4. Turn the start key switch to OFF to stop the engine and remove the key. 5. Turn off the disconnect switch and remove the key. 6. Remove the ether cylinder from the valve, referring to "Ether Starting Aid." 7. Lock all caps, doors and compartments. 8. If necessary install the vandalism guards to the front window and cab door and lock them. 9. Block the tracks and secure the machine with tiedowns. For this purpose, with proper rated wire rope cable use the front and rear eyes on the lower frame and towing eyes located in front and rear of the car body.Fasten all loose or removed parts securely to the trailer or flatcar.
In freezing weather, protect the cooling system with antifreeze, to the lowest outside expected temperature on the travel route. Or, drain the cooling system completely.
