The following is a list of codes that are associated with the Cat Data Link of the machine.

DTC Code Description System Response
190-02 Engine Speed Sensor: Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect Communication between the Transmission ECM and other components on the circuit will be intermittent. Failure codes or indicators may be active that cannot be explained.
Transmission shift points will be affected.
Calibrations will be disabled.
248-09 Cat Data Link: Abnormal Update Rate The machine ECM will not be able to receive certain information from the engine ECM.
590-02 Engine Control Module: Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect Communication between the Transmission ECM and other components on the circuit will be intermittent. Failure codes or indicators may be active that cannot be explained.
590-09 Engine ECM: Abnormal Update Rate Some transmission and engine-related functions may not work properly.
590-12 Engine Control Module: Bad Device or Component Some transmission and engine-related functions may not work properly.
668-09 Transmission Shift Lever: Abnormal Update Rate Some transmission and engine-related functions may not work properly.
3013-02 Lockup Clutch Disable Switch: Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect Communication between the Lockup Clutch Disable Switch and other components on the circuit will be intermittent. Failure codes or indicators may be active that cannot be explained. Each Cat Data Link circuit is an input and an output of electronic control modules. The data link is designed to carry communications between the electronic control modules. Cat Data Link consists of internal control circuits and the connecting harness wiring.Note: Cat Data Link is not a visible component.Possible causes for a DTC 190-02:

Open circuitPossible cause for a DTC 248-09:This DTC is recorded when the Transmission ECM fails to receive an engine speed signal from all of the signal paths.The 248-09 DTC is used by the Transmission ECM as a companion code and indicates that the Cat Data Link has an abnormal condition. This DTC indicates that the Transmission ECM has lost all communication with another ECM. The 248-09 DTC is simultaneously activated with the 590-09 DTC.Note: The 248-09 DTC will never be activated by the Transmission ECM as a stand-alone diagnostic code.Possible cause for a DTC 590-02 and 3013-02:
Intermittent Data Link connectionThis DTC results in events that are logged against an Electronic Control Module or the Lockup Clutch Disable Switch that cannot be explained. The Transmission ECM cannot communicate with the Engine ECM or the Transmission ECM appears to work intermittently.Possible cause for a DTC 590-09 and :
Transmission ECM operating intermittentlyThe DTC 590-09 diagnostic code is caused by network data that is in error between the Transmission ECM and the Engine ECM. The DTC 590-09 diagnostic code can also be caused by a machine application through the Data Link. The data received over the data link is in error.
