Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

Remove the hydraulic tank cap and Install Tooling (A). Apply 276 kPa (40 psi) to 414 kPa (60 psi) of air pressure to Tooling (A) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to ripper lift cylinder (2). The weight of ripper lift cylinder (2) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb).
Disconnect hose assemblies (1) .
Remove bolt (4) and remove pin (3) from the rod end of ripper lift cylinder (2) .

Remove bolts (5) and bracket (7). Remove pin (6) from the head end of ripper lift cylinder (2) .
Remove ripper lift cylinder (2) .
Repeat Step 2 through Step 6 for the opposite side.Installation Procedure
Install the ripper lift cylinder (2) in the reverse order of the removal procedure.Disassembly and Assembly Information

When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

(1) Apply Tooling (C) to the seal groove prior to the assembly of the seal. (2) Lubricate the sealing lip with the lubricant that is being sealed. (3) Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the nut. Tighten the nut to a torque of 6000 600 N m (4425 443 lb ft).
