Some of the battery compartment components have been removed for better photo illustration.1. Use Tool (A) in order to remove oil filter (1) from the filter base. The battery and the sides of the battery box have been removed for better photo illustration.2. Remove plug (4) from tube assembly (3) in order to drain the oil from the tube assembly and the oil filter base. Drain the oil in a suitable container for storage or disposal. Install the plug in the tube.3. Remove bolts (2) from tube assembly (3). 4. Remove bolt (10), the washer and bolt (11) that hold tube (9) to the side of the engine. When bolt (11) is removed the clip holding tube (3) will be loose.5. Remove tube assembly (9), the clip and tube assembly (3) from filter base (7).6. Remove the O-ring seal from the top of each tube.7. Remove the gasket from the base of each tube.8. Remove four bolts (6), the washers, two covers (5), the two gaskets, the two plungers, and the two springs from filter base (7).9. Remove bolts (8) and washers that hold oil filter base (7) to the engine.10. Remove the filter base from the engine. Remove the two O-ring seals from the top of the oil filter base.Install Engine Oil Filter & Oil Filter Base
1. Clean all components of the filter base and mating components before installation. Check the condition of all O-ring seals and gaskets used in the components of the filter base. If any of the seals or gaskets are worn, use new parts for replacement. 2. Install the O-ring seals in the top of filter base (7). Position the filter base to the engine.3. Install four bolts (6), the washers, two covers (5), the two gaskets, the two plungers, and the two springs in filter base (7).4. Install four bolts (8) and the washers that hold oil filter base (7) to the engine. 5. Install the O-ring seals to tube assemblies (3) and (8).6. Install the top of the tubes in the filter base, and position the tube assemblies to the engine. Install the gaskets under the tube bases. 7. Install the clip and bolt (11) and bolt (10) and the washer that hold tubes (8) and (3) to the side of the engine. 8. Install bolts (2) in order to secure tube assembly (3) to the side of the engine. 9. Put a thin film of clean engine oil on the seal of a new oil filter. Install oil filter (1) to filter base (7) by hand, until it makes contact with the filter base. Tighten the filter an 3/4 additional of a turn.10. Check the engine oil for the proper level. Refer to the "Operation & Maintenance Manual" details regarding service intervals.
